No contact with SVb at 527-2782
The easiest way to notify AO is to notify using our MiSVb Trahado App.
If you choose to notify via telephone, be aware that the phone line can be busy in the morning. We recommend calling later in the day or in the afternoon. Please note that you can notify AO all day, and that you don’t need to call SVb before your working hours.
In case technical failures prevent SVb from taking calls, the employee is left with the obligation to notify AO at work. The employee must continue to try to contact SVb.
We recommend following our website and Facebook page (facebook.com/svbaruba) to be informed of the latest SVb news.
Instructions when notifying AO
When the employee notifies AO, the employee can receive the following instructions:
- If you are still AO on the third day, you must use the App or call Medical Administration at 527-2730 between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM.
- On the first and second AO days stay home to possibly receive a visit from SVb staff. You may only be absent if going to a doctor, pharmacy, hospital, physical therapist, specialist, or similar.
Employees who do not comply with the given instructions will not receive compensation.
Control at Home
During the AO period, the employee stays home. You can go out only to visit a doctor, pharmacy, hospital, specialist, or similar place.
On the first day of AO, the employee can receive a visit from SVb personnel.
Resuming Work
If you go back to work before or on the third day after notifying AO, there is no further need to contact SVb.
Notify the SVb only if the employee is going back to work after the first medical checkup:
- Before the employee’s set date to resume work (AG date)
- Before the employee’s set date to receive another medical control at SVb (vervolgcontrole).
In both cases SVb must be notified using the App or at 527-2730 that you are resuming work.
Call 527-2730
When you call 527-2730, you must provide a valid phone number so SVb can call back on the same day. Be pending for a call from SVb on the same day (SVb can call up to 5:00 PM).
In case SVb calls back, and the call is not answered, the AO day will not be approved.
Medical Control at SVb
The employee who must receive a medical control shows up at SVb at the time of his appointment. Upon entry, you must identify with a valid passport, driver’s license, or ID card. Follow the instructions of the SVb staff. During the medical control, the doctor determines if the employee remains AO or can resume work.
The AZV card is NOT a valid means of identification.
Incapacitated (Arbeidsongeschikt or AO)
An employee who has been declared AO by the control doctor must inform their employer of the date they must report to SVb for another check.
To better understand the employee’s condition, the control doctor may ask the employee for information related to their medication. Also, the doctor may ask the employee’s permission to receive information from the employee’s house doctor and specialist.
As determined by the Sickness Insurance Law, only SVb doctors are authorized to determine whether an employee is AO or AG.
Work-capable (Arbeidsgeschikt or AG)
An employee whom is determined fit for work by the control doctor must inform their employer of the set date they are to resume work. In case an employee goes back to work before or on the third day after notifying AO, there is no further need to contact SVb.
The employee is sick on the day he is declared AG.
If the employee still/again feels sick on the set AG date, they must use the App to indicate this or call SVb at 527-2730 between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM for instructions.
If the control doctor determines that the employee is AG after the medical check-up, SVb will not give compensation for this day.
Leaving Aruba during AO
The employee that the control doctor declared AO is not allowed to leave Aruba during the days they are AO without approval from SVb. Only those who must go abroad with an AZV declaration can get permission from SVb to leave Aruba. For all other forms of treatment or any other reason, SVb will not give approval.
If the insured decides to leave Aruba without approval, he loses his right to compensation during his period abroad.
